  • Impressive: Load volume of up to 919 liters
  • Versatile: Four diesel and three gasoline engines
  • Thrifty: 1.3 CDTI ecoFLEX with Start/Stop offers 4 l/100 km diesel consumption

Hannover/Rüsselsheim. The Opel Corsavan offers the ideal combination of passenger car comfort and generous load capacity. Based on the three-door Opel Corsa, it features a pleasant ambience for both driver and passenger, and instead of a rear bench seat, it offers ample space for cargo. The efficient range of engines also includes the extremely economical 1.3 CDTI ecoFLEX with Start/Stop, which makes the Corsavan an ideal small van to meet today’s transport needs.

Load area and capacity

A coupé-like roofline conceals the true cargo-carrying qualities of the Corsavan’s three-door body. Thanks to its long wheelbase and wide track, the Corsavan offers ample space – in front for driver and passenger and in the back for cargo - with a total volume of up to 919 liters. The load area is 1.25 meters long, 1.26 meters wide, 92 centimeters high and can carry a payload of up to 475 kilograms.

Up front, the Corsavan offers the same inviting ambience as the Corsa car with attractive, high quality materials. The rear cargo compartment is practical and durable. Body-colored sheet metal panels replace the rear side windows, which are available as an option together with a load compartment cover to completely hide and protect your cargo.

Passive and active safety

Its safety qualities are based on a torsion-resistant passenger cell with computer-calculated deformation zones and ultra-high-strength steel profiles in the doors. The coordinated occupant protection systems include a driver airbag as standard and an optional passenger airbag. In the event of a severe frontal impact, Opel’s patented Pedal Release System decouples the clutch and brake pedals from their mountings to reduce the risk of foot and lower leg injuries. The rear brake lights pulse when ABS is activated in order to warn following traffic and help prevent rear-end collisions.

In addition to its torsion-resistant body, the Corsavan boasts excellent driving dynamics due to the front subframe and torsion beam rear axle. The ABS and ESP systems are supported by front disk brakes internally ventilated. In critical driving situations a brake control system is automatically activated alongside brake assist and electronic brake force distribution. The speed-sensitive electric power steering supports precise control and makes maneuvering easier.

Engines and transmissions – Thrifty Start/Stop 1.3 CDTI ecoFLEX

Four common-rail turbo-diesel and three gasoline engines are available for the Corsavan, all with four-valve technology. The 1.3-liter diesel engines can be selected with 55 kW (75 hp) and a five-speed transmission or 70 kW (95 hp) and a six-speed gearbox. The Opel diesel engines boast high power, efficient consumption and low CO2 emissions.

The most economical small van, the 55 kW (75 hp) 1.3 CDTI ecoFLEX, fulfills Euro 5 emissions standards and is equipped with a maintenance-free diesel particulate filter. It requires only 4.0 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers over the combined cycle and emits just 105 g/km CO2. These excellent values are also a result of Start/Stop, a novel technology in small vans. The system is most effective in city traffic conditions, which is where the Corsavan is typically used. In the urban cycle, the Corsa with Start/Stop emits 10.6 percent less CO2 than the Corsa without this eco-friendly technology. In the urban cycle, for the Corsa uses 4.8 l/100 km, compared with 5.3 l/100 km without Start/Stop.

The three gasoline engines are offered with 48 kW (65 hp), 51 kW (70 hp) and 63 kW (85 hp). They come as standard with five-speed gearboxes; the automated Easytronic transmission is available as an option for the most powerful unit. All three gasoline engines feature the proven TWINPORT technology – a guarantee of impressive fuel economy. The 1.0-liter Corsavan, for example, offers combined cycle fuel consumption of just 5.0 liters per 100 kilometers. The 85-hp 1.2 liter with Easytronic requires just 5.1 liters per 100 kilometers and emits 119 g/km CO2.

Quality and service

The Corsavan meets high requirements in terms of quality, reliability and long service life. Its repair-friendly design enables favorable insurance ratings. Long service intervals (main inspection: two years/60,000 km – interim service: one year/30,000 km), and the limited maintenance necessary, help to further minimize running costs. Another advantage: Opel’s typical two-year new-vehicle manufacturer’s warranty goes beyond the statutory requirements.
