  • New: interactive electronic format of customer magazine to enrich mobile way of living
  • Free of charge: Opel iMag to download in the iTunes store

After the Opel FlexApp for the iPhone, the company now introduces the iPad version of the Opel Magazine, the Opel iMag. The automaker’s customer magazine adds a host of interactive elements in its digital presentation on the trendy tablet PC that make the articles livelier and engage the user. More picture and video material, for instance in the “making-of” format, enrich the magazine’s content. Practical applications like looking for a dealer or making an appointment for a test drive as well as the connection to Twitter and Facebook are included. The user can also ask questions about the revolutionary Ampera electric vehicle with range extender in the current issue. Just like with an iPhone, users can page through texts with the touch function or blow up pictures and graphics. The Opel iMag is published in parallel with the print version every quarter and can be downloaded free of charge in the iTunes store.

The first issue will be out in time for the beginning of Opel brand ambassador Katie Melua’s tour on March 9. Opel iMag readers will then be able to get her new song “Walk Lightly on the World” free of charge for 48 hours. All tour dates and stops can be found in the Opel iMag and are marked as Hotspots on a Google map.

“The Opel iMag gives readers added value. We engage them interactively with the magazine. The future belongs more and more to digital media and Opel is a trendsetter in this area too,” says Alain Visser, Vice President Sales, Marketing and Aftersales Europe at Adam Opel AG.

Make magazine contents come alive

When „Urban gardening“ is the topic in the next issue, iPad users have an advantage over the print version readers: They can access example gardens of this city trend over a Hotspot button on a Google map and, via touch function, let flowers and grass bloom and grow on the screen. Just as entertaining is the graffiti app with the article on the new Corsa in the Opel iMag. Users can give the Opel Corsa a new design and publish this on Facebook or send it by email. Later issues will also offer similar interactive elements.
