Feb 25, 2016

  • All-rounder wins in high-top station wagon/small van segment

Opel News - All smiles: Erik Wakolbinger, Director Sales DEKRA SE and Opel Fleet Director Frank Hägele at the award ceremony

Rüsselsheim. The Opel Combo can celebrate a major success: the versatile, family, recreational and company vehicle finished first in the 2016 DEKRA Second-hand Car Report and can claim to be the “Winner in its segment” after triumphing in the high-top station wagon/small van category. The cars were evaluated based on their performance in the legally prescribed main inspections.

“Being recognized in the DEKRA Second-hand Car Report is always something very special because the quality of the vehicles is measured independent of their list price. The Combo is a role model in its class because the reliability of the vehicle is a key cost factor especially for traders,” said Opel Fleet Director Frank Hägele at the award ceremony.

Opel News - Highly variable: The Combo is available as a panel van, transporter or with a high top (from left to right)

The light commercial vehicle portfolio is a key pillar in Opel’s growth strategy DRIVE! 2022. Amongst others, the plan includes an increase of LCV sales by 80 percent to 150,000 vehicles per year. The Opel Combo, Vivaro and Movano are the company’s main players in this area. The spectrum of Combo models comprises two basic types of bodywork: those with short and long wheelbases. Both types are available as a transporter variant as a panel van or glazed and as a five to seven seat versions for carrying passengers.

The annual report published by DEKRA is based on a special analysis of defects that occur during the main inspections and thus allow conclusions regarding the quality of the vehicles. Particular consideration is paid to damage to wearing parts such as brakes or dampers. The analysis includes around 15 million inspected vehicles in eleven different vehicle segments.
